Privacy policy
Last updated 9 July 2026
This policy explains what personal information Porthline Digital collects when you use this website or get in touch, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the rights you have over it. Porthline Digital is committed to handling your information carefully and only for the reasons set out below.
Who is responsible for your data
Porthline Digital is a sole trader business run by Cal Proctor, based in Nairn, in the Scottish Highlands, and is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@porthlinedigital.co.uk for any privacy question or request, and our full postal address is available on request by email.
What information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us. In practice that means:
- Enquiry details: when you submit an enquiry form on this site, the details you enter: your name and email, and, depending on the form, your phone number, business name, website, budget, timeline and a description of what you need help with.
- Booking details: when you book a call, the information you give to our scheduling provider (Calendly), such as your name, email and chosen time.
We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking tools on this site, so we do not build a profile of you or track your browsing. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
How we use your information, and our legal basis
We use the information you send us to:
- respond to your enquiry and answer your questions;
- arrange and hold a call if you book one;
- discuss, quote for and, where you go ahead, deliver the work you ask about.
Our legal basis under UK data protection law is a mix of taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to and following up on genuine business enquiries. We do not send marketing emails, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We do not share your information except with the small number of trusted service providers that make this website and our enquiries work. They only process your data on our instructions:
- Resend: delivers enquiry form submissions to us by email. Privacy policy.
- Calendly: handles call bookings when you use the “book a call” option. Privacy policy.
- Vercel: hosts this website and serves its pages. Privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law. If we start using additional tools that handle your data, this policy will be updated first.
Cookies
This website does not set its own tracking or analytics cookies. If you choose to book a call, Calendly may set cookies on its own booking page to make that work, and those are covered by Calendly’s own privacy policy, linked above.
Where your data is processed
Some of the providers above are based outside the UK, including in the United States, so your information may be processed there. Where that happens, it is protected by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent standard contractual terms.
How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry and any related correspondence only as long as we need it to deal with your request and to keep reasonable business records, and where you become a client, for as long as we work together and for a limited period afterwards. When it is no longer needed, we delete it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information, or to restrict or object to how we use it;
- ask us to transfer your information to you or another provider.
To exercise any of these, email hello@porthlinedigital.co.uk. We will respond within the time limits set by law.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please get in touch so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the website or the tools behind it change. Any changes will appear on this page, with the “last updated” date above revised to match.
